Indian Institute of Technology Madras, one of the pre-eminent institutions in India, welcomes international aspirants to Virtual Internship Program e-GRIESHMA (Virtual Global Research Internship In Engineering, Science, Humanities And Management).
FAQ:
1.Are there any costs for the students?
There is no cost to be borne by the student or their institute as the program is virtual.
2. What is the duration of this virtual internship program and approximately how many hours per week will the students work on the projects?
The program is flexible and is typically of a duration of 8-12 weeks. If your students require to complete a certain number of hours to meet credit requirements, we can help to structure the program accordingly.
3. When is the best time to apply and for the internships to take place?
We will accept applications to the program till April 2021. The internships themselves can start from June 2021. The last group of students can be admitted in Jan 2022 (to complete by March 2022). The program can start at a mutually agreed upon date between the faculty mentor and student.
4. How would prospective internees contact potential supervisors at IITM ? Also, would there be interest in co-supervision, or involvement of our academics in the internship ?
Students are to indicate their reason for applying and broad areas of research interest in the SOP. IITM will carefully match them with the best aligned faculty and department/center of Excellence for mentoring. On selection, we will issue an offer letter which includes a contract to the student.
5. What are the documents required at the application stage?
Documents required with the application: Nomination from the international office, Transcripts, CV, SOP specifying the reason for applying, broad areas of research interest, specific course duration requirements for home institute credit requirements (if any), any interest in co-supervision for a supervisor from the student’s institution and indication of student’s interest in coming to IITM in the future (only if interested).
